Find of the Day – Pogues/Kirsty MacColl – Fairytale of New York

One of the top 3 Xmas related songs ever written, hands down. I think of this song every Christmas, and then my mind wanders over to the tragedy of Kirsty MacColl’s passing.

Suck on this, Irving Berlin.

  1. Terrific find. Fairytale of New York has always been one of my favorite songs. It’s worth watching the first ten minutes of “In America” just to hear it over the scenes of old school NYC.

  2. Yeah, I’ve owned the Pogues IISFFGWG in 3 formats now – CD, cassette and LP. Can’t get enough of this song as well as some of the rave-ups that accompany it.

I’d forgotten about its inclusion in In America. But you can’t just stop at the 10 min. mark, can you?
