(1982, Dir. Werner Herzog)

Or, He'll be comin' o'er the mountain when he comes. Notoriously treacherous filming conditions, disasters and massive recasting are merely backstory to the most ambitious and, perhaps, the best film of the Herzog/Kinski collaborations. It helps to know the backstory though, and I'm looking forward to seeing Burden of Dreams, the documentary made about the filming. However, on its own, it excels as an allegory for blind ambition, and features Klaus Kinski in yet another captivating role as the title character, a man who pursues his dreams to their breaking point.
