Elevator to the Gallows

Elevator to the Gallows

(1958, Dir. Louis Malle)

The New Wave Double Indemnity. 50's French noir featuring Jeanne Moreau as a disenchanted woman who plots to murder her husband with her lover — and then the plot starts twisting. Perfect as a jumping off point for the late 20th century French cinema, as well as a primer to director Malle, star Moreau, composer Miles Davis and cinematographer Henri Decaë.
